The YWCA Personal Care Residence in the city of Butler is closing.
The residents and staff were told of the news on Wednesday. The West Cunningham Street facility will shut down on Sept. 24. The Area Agency on Aging will assist in transitioning all residents to new living arrangements.
The YWCA Butler Board of Trustees said in a statement they are “saddened” by the closure.
The board said they have been proud to provide low-cost, compassionate care to members of the Butler community, however continuing operations is not sustainable in the current market environment.
YWCA Butler will continue to serve the community through the limited-income independent living facility “Under Our Wing,” the YWCA Montessori Preschool, and other outreach and programming at the facility’s community center in downtown Butler.
