The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 10-5 last night. The Bucs were holding a 5-4 lead entering the seventh inning, when relievers David Bednar and Jalen Beeks combined to give up six runs.
The Pirates had 13 hits in the game, with six players having multiple hits. Newcomers Nick Yorke and Billy Cook were among those hitters. Yorke had two hits after starting at third base. Cook hit his first major league home run, a three-run shot in the sixth inning.
Last night’s game was the third straight loss in the series for the Pirates. The Pirates will try to avoid a series sweep by the Cardinals tonight at 7:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:15pm. Luis Ortiz will start for the Pirates.
