Charges have been filed against the West Virginia man accused of transporting a large amount of drugs near Portersville last month.
Durell Anthony Jones, 33, of Fairmont will face several charges, including conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine.
Law enforcement officers observed Jones back on Oct. 21 around 5:30 a.m. parking near a tractor trailer in the back of a gas station in Portersville. After engaging in some activity in his trunk, Jones drove his vehicle onto Interstate 79 southbound.
State Police pulled him over for a vehicle violation and found he had a warrant out of Michigan. A search of Jones’ vehicle allegedly revealed over 122 pounds of meth and 10 pounds of cocaine in four duffle bags in his trunk.
Those drugs have an estimated street value of $2.5 million.
Jones was indicted by a federal grand jury. The law provides for a maximum total sentence of not more than 25 years in prison, a fine of not more than $25,000,000, or both.
