The WPIAL has released its new realignments after making the transition to six classifications. In football: Butler will be in the class 6A and Section 1 with North Allegheny, Seneca Valley, Pine-Richland, Shaler, Central Catholic and Penn Hills. North Hills moves to 5A in football, but returns to 6A in basketball and Penn Hills will play in a different section.
Mars and Knoch will play football in Class 4A/Section 1 with New Castle, Blackhawk, Ambridge, Montour, South Fayette, Highlands and Indiana. The Planets move to Class 5A for boys basketball, and are joined by the Knoch boys. The Knoch girls basketball team will play 4A basketball in a section with Freeport. Freeport will play football in Class 3A, but the boys basketball team will play in the 4A class.
