The Butler County Symphony will be joined by a world-renowned vocalist and Butler County native for their concert this weekend.
It will be an emotional performance for Mezzo-Soprano Marianne Cornetti, “I’m really happy to come home and sing for the people that gave me the shove out the door and the pats on the back and all of the well wishes for all of these 28 years believe it or not, unbelievable.”
Cornetti graduated from Knoch High School and has since gone on to an acclaimed career performing opera internationally.
The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Butler Intermediate High School with a pre-concert lecture by conductor Matthew Kraemer at 6:30.
Since Cornetti will be performing several pieces in foreign languages she asked that the English translations be projected so the audience will be able to understand the meaning behind the music.
“Those people who don’t understand French would never understand what’s going on so they’ve accommodated me with the surtitles and I’ve very, very happy about that,” Cornetti explained.
Regular adult tickets are $23 while students can see the show for $5.50. Tickets can be bought at the door or visit Showclix.com to purchase online.
