Two Butler County residents are facing charges after police say a department store employee was dragged while trying to stop a shoplifter.
The incident happened Sunday afternoon outside Boscov’s at the Clearview Mall in Center Township.
State Police say it started when 47-year-old Scott Locke, off Penn Township, allegedly stole about $900 worth of clothes. As he was walking out of the store, Locke was confronted by a loss prevention officer who tried to grab him to stop him from getting into a vehicle.
While the officer had ahold of Locke, 36-year-old Kimberly Weibel is accused of starting to drive away, in-turn pulling the store employee. The employee’s leg was injured in the ordeal. The two defendants did initially get away, but were found by police later that day.
