Work begins on Thursday on a project to improve travel on a busy Adams Township roadway.
PennDOT will start a safety and mobility improvement effort at the intersection of Route 228 and Pittsburgh Street (which turns into Warrendale Road). From 8 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday, traffic will be restricted to one lane controlled by flaggers.
Crews will be working on construction of new turning lanes, signal improvements, drainage upgrades including instillation of a box culvert, and other miscellaneous work. The first step in this process is placing temporary pavement on the eastbound shoulders so that traffic can be shifted and work started on the westbound shoulder.
The nearly $8 million project is expected to be completed by May of 2020.
