A woman in a wheelchair was killed early Thursday when she was hit by a vehicle while attempting to cross Route 28 in neighboring Armstrong County.
State police say 53-year-old Sylvia Denslow of Kittanning was crossing Route 28/66 North near the Troy Hill intersection about 5:30 a.m. when she was struck by a Ford F-150 pick-up truck. Roger Crissman of Cowansville was driving.
Police say driving conditions were poor with heavy fog limiting visibility.
A portion of Route 28- between Route 85 in Manor Township and McGregor Road in Rayburn Township- was shut down for several hours but reopened just before 9 a.m.
