A Westmoreland County woman has been charged after police say that she stole from her employer in Cranberry Township.
According to a criminal complaint, 36-year-old Amanda Coats of Sewickley Township is accused of felony Theft by Unlawful Taking as well as felony Receiving Stolen Property.
Coats was hired by the Linn Law Group on Route 19 to provide accounting services in February of 2014. In October of 2015, representatives of the Law Group contacted police and reported theft by Coats.
Police say that Coats issued paychecks to herself for almost $26,000 more than she should have received. Police allegedly recovered financial documents and a USB storage device with financial information from the law group from Coats. Those files were later determined to be useless due to many entries having been deleted.
