The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is implementing travel restrictions later today for a number of highways in the area.
The restrictions including on Interstate-79 from I-80 to I-90, and the entire length of I-80 will start at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Under these Tier 1 restrictions, tractors without trailers, motorcycles, RVs, commercial or school buses are not allowed on the highway. PennDOT officials say motorists should avoid travel if possible and more restrictions could be added if the weather worsens.
A winter weather advisory has been issued starting at 6 p.m. A mix of wintry weather is expected, as Butler could see rain, freezing rain, and snow through the overnight, before the system moves to just rain early Friday morning.
