Tuesday marks the official start of spring, but it’s not going to feel like it.
Butler County is under a Winter Weather Advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, until 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Forecasters at the NWS are expecting the Butler area to see between 2 to 4 inches of snow. Freezing rain and sleet is possible during the early portions of that advisory and then the precipitation will change to all snow. PennDOT has imposed a ban on tractor trailers, pickup trucks, motorcycles, and recreational vehicles (RVs) on Interstate 79 from the Turnpike to Interstate 80 during the advisory.
Even larger snow totals will likely be seen to our south, along and just north of Interstate 70.
“There will be a lull in precipitation until snow increases late Tuesday night,” according to the advisory.
Drivers can expect to see slippery conditions during the Wednesday morning commute. The storm should move out of our area by Wednesday late afternoon.
