You will soon be able to buy wine during your next trip to the grocery store.
Starr Hill Winery & Vineyard, based in Clearfield County, will open a satellite location inside the Butler Township Walmart next week.
Owner Kenn Starr says Starr Hill Winery has been operating inside Walmarts in central Pennsylvania for years with locations in Altoona, Clearfield and DuBois and he believes now is a good time to open a location in Butler. Starr says it was legal to operate as a ‘store within a store’ even before changes were made to the state’s liquor law this summer.
Major changes were made by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board in August but it could be years before consumers are buying wine off grocery store shelves in western Pennsylvania.
