There is still time to participate in a wild turkey survey before it closes next week.
The survey period deadline of the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s inaugural Wild Turkey Sighting Survey is August 31st but the public has until September 4th to report sightings that happened during August.
The Commission is looking for information like location, date, and number of wild turkeys that people observe. This data will allow the commission to determine how factors like weather, habitat, food, and predators affect turkey reproduction and population.
There have been over 2,300 submissions so far and the Commission will publish the results on their website September 6th. Participants should submit their information to pgcdatacollection.pa.gov/TurkeyBroodSurvey.
