Nearly 80 adults got a chance to relive a childhood classic as part of a fundraising effort this past weekend for the It’s About the Warrior Foundation.
The 7th annual Wiffle Ball Tournament, presented by The Rock Station 97.7 FM and Mars Bank, was held this past Saturday at the Hotel Beacon in Renfrew.
A total of 13 teams entered the double elimination tournament, but ultimately it was All Fit that came through as the winner for the seventh straight year as they defeated the Beacon with a walk-off home run in the championship game.
In addition to the thrilling competition, a number of other fundraising efforts contributed to the cause including a donation of two kegs from Miller Lite.
The event raised over $3,000 for the It’s About the Warrior Foundation, a group that helps post-9/11 veterans in the Tri-State area. In the last seven years of the event, it has raised over $25,000 for the organization.
