Officials at the Pennsylvania Department of Health say it will take until early 2018 to make medical marijuana available to eligible patients.
But Governor Tom Wolf said during a talk show Wednesday morning that it won’t take that long to get access due to provisions in the bill that allow minors to get medical marijuana immediately. He also said he has asked district attorneys around the state to volunteer to not prosecute people who are using marijuana for medical purposes.
Department of Health Secretary Dr. Karen Murphy announced Tuesday her department will soon begin working with physicians and health systems to write medical marijuana program regulations.
There is expected to be about 150 centers around the state that will dispense medical marijuana.
