Butler County-based Westinghouse Electric will lead a project to dismantle the reactor at a nuclear power plant in Germany.
The company announced Tuesday it was awarded a contract to take down the equipment at the Philippsburg Nuclear Power Plant. Westinghouse did not disclose the price of the contract.
The German plant closed in 2011 when the country began reviewing all of its nuclear operations following the tsunami-caused disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi plant in Japan.
Westinghouse Electric is in Cranberry Township.
