Butler County-based Westinghouse Electric is laying off more workers.
The company announced Thursday it will cut 1,500 employees total as part of its reorganization, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
This comes during a turbulent time for the nuclear firm and one of the county’s biggest employers. Earlier this year, Westinghouse’s parent company, Toshiba, announced it had to write down more than $6 billion in losses.
In March, Westinghouse filed for bankruptcy because of the cost overruns on two new nuclear power plant projects in Georgia and South Carolina.
