There are still more than 20,000 West Penn Power customers without power on Suday.
“It’s hard to follow the bouncing ball exactly, because we still are getting new outages. Trees are continuing to break out there,” West Penn’s Todd Meyers talked with us late Saturday morning. “The ice really hasn’t melted yet.”
Power crews have come from other parts of the state- and from neighboring states- to help here in Butler County.
“There is a very large influx of linemen from other parts of the state, and out of state- we’re talking close to 300 linemen- are coming here to work,” Meyers said.
West Penn hopes to have service restored as quickly as possible, but residents should plan for power not to come back on until Sunday night.
“Your power could come back on in five minutes, but plan for late Sunday night,” he said. “That’s the window.”
Several warming centers are open in Butler County.
