Dan McCarthy overcame a three-shot deficit over the final five holes to win the Frank B. Fuhrer Invitational Wednesday at the Pittsburgh Field Club. He earned the $40,000 top prize. McCarthy finished with a final-round 69 to complete the tournament at -5 under, one stroke better than David Bradshaw. Bradshaw led the tournament until the final two holes, finishing with a 72.
Two major golf events begin today. The LPGA tour’s Women’s PGA Championship begins today in Illinois. The tournament is the second-oldest event on the LPGA Tour, beginning in 1955. Also getting underway today is the U.S. Senior Open in Colorado Springs.
