A familiar face will take over as interim president at Slippery Rock University this summer.
Provost and vice president for academic and student affairs Philip Way was appointed Wednesday by the Board of Governors of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. He will begin leading the school effective July 21 when current SRU President Cheryl Norton retires and while a search continues for a permanent president.
Way joined SRU in 2013 and has been responsible for much of the university’s strategic planning efforts, according to the school. He has also worked with retiring President Norton to realign departments as part of restructuring.
As interim president, Way will have the same responsibilities and authority as the university’s chief executive officer.
