Butler County Commissioners are touting a new innovative opportunity for local municipalities to upgrade their water and sewer systems.
A revised state loan program, known as PennVEST, is now allowing local entities to manage loans for water quality projects for townships and boroughs.
The commissioners believe they’ll be the first entity in the state to offer that option for municipalities because of the process they already have established with the Butler County Infrastructure Bank.
They believe this will become a crucial program as a chunk of federal dollars through the American Rescue Plan are dedicated to water and sewer projects.
Commissioners also added that as water and infrastructure improves, growth and development always follow.
