Director of the Butler County Bureau of Elections Shari Brewer says more people applied for an absentee ballot for this year’s election than in the last midterm four years ago.
That leads Brewer to believe voter turnout on Election Day next week will be up as well.
“Compared to four years ago, they are way above,” Brewer said in an interview on Thursday. “We are seeing numbers more comparable to 2010.
Right now, Brewer projects between 55 and 60 percent of Butler County voters will head to the polls on Tuesday. She says that is comparable to what turnout was like during the 2010 election, which fell in the middle of President Barack Obama’s first term.
