About sixty percent of registered voters in Butler County are expected to head to the polls on Tuesday.
About sixty percent of registered voters in Butler County are expected to head to the polls Tuesday, according to Bureau of Elections Director Shari Brewer.
That’s down slightly from a presidential year, where typically between 7 in 10 registered voters statewide cast a ballot.
“Tuesday’s turnout is expected to be a bit below,” Brewer said in a recent interview with Butler Radio.
Brewer doesn’t believe it’s any one thing that’s driving voters to the polls this year.
“There’s just so much going on lately,” she said. “I don’t think you can contribute it to any one thing.”
Voters are being targeted more than ever- it seems- this election cycle, with ads popping up on social media and even through texts on personal cell phones, in addition to the typical messages on TV, radio and in mail boxes.
Last November, only 24 percent of voters cast a ballot. It was a municipal election year.
