An organization that provides support for local domestic violence and sexual assault survivors is sponsoring an event this weekend in memory of a Butler woman.
The first annual ‘Get Nebby 5K and Fun Run’ is scheduled for Sunday morning at North Boundary Park in Cranberry Township.
The event- sponsored by the Victim Outreach Intervention Center- is in memory of Melissa Barto, who police say was shot and killed by her boyfriend in June.
“VOICe partnered with the Barto family who recently lost their Missy,” Briana Gloeckl, VOICe volunteer and outreach, said. “Their goal as a family is to bring awareness to domestic violence. To save one more family from going through what they’ve gone through.”
