Government offices are closed- including at the federal, state and local level.
Most banks are closed. There will be no mail delivery today.
Veterans Day is celebrated annually on the 11th day of November. That fell on a Sunday this year, which is why the country is observing it today. This year’s celebration also marks the 100th anniversary of the ending of World War I.
