Prior to former President Donald Trump’s remarks, his vice presidential candidate JD Vance also spoke.
He took time to acknowledge the two men who were hit in the gunfire on July 13th.
“As we gather on these grounds once again my friends, we especially thank God for the two Americans who were wounded. That’s David Dutch and James Copenhaver,” Vance said.
Vance also said that he believed there was a larger message that served as a takeaway from the attempted assassination.
“I honestly believe that what happened here in Butler is a metaphor for the United STates of America. In this land, we may get knocked down but we get back up and never stop fighting because hope is never lost,” Vance said.
