A vacant building at a farm in Middlesex Township was destroyed in a fire Tuesday afternoon.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center shortly before 3 p.m. for a barn fire near a trailer on Hornyak Lane in Valencia.
Crews from Middlesex Township were joined by those from Penn Township and Saxonburg along with tankers and manpower from Callery and Butler Township. Heavy smoke was visible at the scene.
At least one truck got stuck as it attempted to travel muddy road conditions to the fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but the damage to the empty cottage was significant. No one is believed to have been injured.
