An event will be held Tuesday to give local veterans the tools to better deal with diabetes.
VA Butler Healthcare is hosting the Diabetes Alert Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Primary Care Waiting Area of their facility on New Castle Road.
The goal of the event is to help veterans learn about the seriousness of diabetes, especially when it is left undiagnosed or untreated. Veterans and family members who attend will be able to take a diabetes risk test, a free hemoglobin A1C test, and collect valuable information.
VA Butler Healthcare provides a variety of resources for veterans with diabetes including a weekly Diabetes Support Group and a monthly Diabetes Self-Management Education Program.
