An employee with the Butler VA Health Care System was honored last month for being an extraordinary nurse.
Jerry Dunn was honored by the not-for-profit DAISY Foundation for his commitment to his patients.
Dunn’s nomination for the award said he exhibited kindness, compassion, and understanding. The statement went on to read “He always shows empathy and trust…. He has the ability to calm me and make me laugh. I truly know he loves his job and the people he takes care of…”
The DAISY Foundation was started in the memory of the nurses that took care of J. Patrick Barnes, a veteran who died at the age of 33 from a little known auto-immune disease.
