The Butler Area School District could decide to take action on a proposal from the developers of the new VA in Center Township.
Representatives from the VA’s developer (Cambridge Healthcare Solutions) attended Monday night’s school board meeting to ask for district support on a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Grant. A TIF grant allows tax money to be directed to infrastructure improvements instead of being collected as taxes.
For a grant proposal like this to succeed, all taxing municipalities would need to support it, including Center Township, Butler Township, Butler County and Butler School District. Several Center Township administrators attended Monday’s meeting in support of this proposal.
The new VA facility will be built with or without this grant. The grant would mainly be used to put infrastructure in place to encourage further development in the area. School district board members asked for more information before they would agree to any proposal.
