There are plenty of changes going on at VA Butler Healthcare but those changes do not include furloughs once the new building is complete.
According to VA Butler Healthcare Director David Cord, “The staff now who does all of our out-patient-related services, which we do in Building One of our current property, will all move to the new healthcare center in Center Township and will provide all of those same services there. We will be increasing some staffing with regard to our police force because we will have a presence in the new building but we will also have to maintain security at our existing campus.”
As a result of the community living center and domiciliary continuing to exist on the current main campus, the only change in employees will be hiring additional police. The new facility is still on schedule to open around this time next year.
In other VA-related news, VA Butler Healthcare is holding a special event for post-911 veterans on Sunday, August 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Moraine State Park.
“This is our opportunity to say welcome home,” Cord said. “Many of these are post-deployed veterans who have spent more than one tour overseas and we want to welcome them home but we also want to make sure that they know all the services that are available.”
Experts with the Veteran Benefits Administration and VA Center will also be at this picnic-style gathering where veterans can enroll to take advantage of benefits.
