With frigid temperatures expected to continue this week, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is reminding residents of options to conserve energy while saving money.
Minimizing energy usage is key in minimizing the cost of winter energy bills and PUC tips for saving energy include keeping furnaces and ducts clean as well as only running full loads of clothes or dishes to reduce the amount of energy needed to heat that water.
The PUC’s PAPowerSwitch energy shopping website can allow consumers to quickly compare offers from competitive suppliers with local utility default service rates to minimize utility costs.
Residents who are struggling with paying utility bills are encouraged to call the utility to discuss utility assistance programs.
