The USGA announced Wednesday it will hold several tournaments in the coming decades at the famed Oakmont Country Club, one of the courses hosting the 121st U.S. Amateur Tournament this week.
The U.S. Open will return in 2025, then again in 2034, 2042 and 2049. Oakmont will host the Women’s U.S. Open in 2028 and 2038. The Walker Cup, a team competition between amateur golfers will be held at Oakmont in 2036 and the Women’s Amateur in 2046.
Weather interrupted the play again yesterday at the U.S. Amateur tournament in Pittsburgh. Greensburg’s Mark Goetz eventually earned the medalist honors following stroke play as the #1 seed in the 64-player match-play portion of the tourney. A 12-player playoff to decide the 64th seed was needed to determine his first match-play opponent. Darkness then held up all but one match from being completed until play resumes this morning.
