After a morning of power outages, service has been restored to all customers in Butler County.
Central Electric Cooperative and West Penn Power were both reporting outages on Wednesday morning.
CEC’s outage occurred late Tuesday night. CEC was reporting roughly 2,660 customers were still in the dark as of 5 a.m. Wednesday. The majority of the outages were in Clearfield Township (1,000) and Summit Township (800). Other outages were in Donegal, Oakland and Winfield townships.
A CEC official says the outages were the result of some equipment failure at the Clearfield substation.
“We did setup, and currently still are, back-feeding that substation so that our members are not without power while we fix the equipment,” said Renee Tritten, communication supervisor, with CEC.
By 8 a.m. Wednesday, all outages were restored.

West Penn Power began reporting outages about 7 a.m. Wednesday.
West Penn said roughly 3,500 customers in Cranberry Township were without power.
It’s unclear what caused the outages.
West Penn had all Cranberry customers back online by 8:15 a.m.
