The United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania has named a new CEO.
Bobbi Watt Geer will take on the role beginning July 1- and she will be the first woman to lead the organization in its 92-year history.
She’s the current senior vice president of administration at the United Way. She was picked for the job following a seven-month national search to replace retiring President and CEO Bob Nelkin.
“United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania is vibrant, strong and well-prepared to continue serving nearly a half-million people throughout our region, from preventing hunger and homelessness to preparing families, children, veterans, seniors and people with disabilities to live their lives to the fullest potential,” said Rich Harshman, United Way Board Chair, Search Committee Co-Chair, and Retired Chairman, President and CEO of Allegheny Technologies Incorporated. “Bobbi is extremely knowledgeable, innovative and well-prepared to lead the organization into the future. The board looks forward to working with Bobbi to continue the mission.”
The Butler County United Way merged with the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania last year, which now serves the needs of residents in Allegheny, Butler, Fayette, Westmoreland and southern Armstrong counties.
