The United States defeated Puerto Rico 8-0 last night to win its first World Baseball Classic. Toronto’s Marcus Stroman tossed six hitless innings and was named the tournament MVP. Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen was 2-for-4 last night with an RBI and walk. The American team was led by former manager Jim Leyland.
The Pirates had an off-day in Bradenton Wednesday. They visit Boston this afternoon.
