Ride-sharing service Uber will soon have self-driving cars picking up passengers in Pittsburgh.
Customers will be able to opt into the test program, in which case their ride would then be free.
To start, there will be a human backup driver in the autonomous Ford Fusion able to take over in the event something goes wrong.
Uber picked the Pittsburgh market because the company has a self-driving research lab in Lawrenceville.
