The United States women’s soccer team defeated top-ranked Germany 2-0 last night to reach the World Cup final this Sunday. Carli Lloyd and Kelley O’Hara each scored for the American team. Lloyd scoring the game-winner on a penalty kick in the 69th minute of the game. Goaltender Hope Solo netted her fifth consecutive shut-out. The U.S. team features Pine-Richland graduate Meghan Klingenberg, who plays defense. The United States will meet the winner of tonight’s game between England and defending Women’s Cup champion Japan. England is currently the sixth-ranked team in the world. Japan is number four.
