The Robert Morris University men’s basketball team punched their ticket into the NCAA championship tournament following an 89-78 victory over Youngstown State in the Horizon League championship game played in Indianapolis. It will be the Colonials first appearance in the “March Madness” tournament since 2015.
The St. Francis Red Flash have also earned entry into the NCAA tournament after winning the Northeast Conference championship. The Red Flash defeated Central Connecticut State 46-43 in the title game Tuesday. They had lost both regular-season conference games to the Blue Devils by a combined 31 points this season. The win snaps a five-game losing streak to Central Connecticut State and ended the nation’s longest winning streak at 14 game. St. Francis, is based in Loretto, Pennsylvania near Ebensburg. They earn their second-ever conference title, and first trip to the NCAA tournament since 1991.
The Pitt men were knocked out of the ACC tournament following a 55-54 loss to Notre Dame in the First Round Tuesday. The game appeared to be headed to overtime, when the Panthers were called for a foul as time expired.
