Two motorists are dead after a head on crash Saturday afternoon on the Pennsylvania Turnpike between New Castle and Cranberry.
According to our news partners at WPXI, 85-year-old Robert Humble of Cranberry was driving east in the westbound lanes of the turnpike just after 2pm, when he crashed into a car driven by 56-year-old Helen O’Halloran of Ridgeville, Ohio.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 60-year-old James M. O’Halloran, was taken to UPMC Presbyterian. He is in stable condition.
Traffic on the turnpike was backed up for miles during cleanup efforts. The westbound lanes were opened around 6pm, nearly four hours after the crash.
