Tuition costs will be rising at Slippery Rock University next year but not by as much as they have in years past.
The State System Board of Governors approved an $89 per semester increase for the 2016-17 school year. This brings the base tuition rate for most full-time Pennsylvania residents to just over $3,600 per semester.
This was the smallest increase in over a decade due to an increase in state funding as well as cost cutting measures by universities like SRU. Even with the increase, state system schools are the most affordable option among all four-year universities in the state.
The State System Board of Governors also extended the contract of Slippery Rock University President Dr. Cheryl Norton through June 30, 2019.
