At the Olympics:
–It was revealed early today that Simone Biles will not compete in the women’s gymnastics all-around final tomorrow. Jade Carey will take her place.
–Katie Ledecky finally got her gold medal – winning the 1,500-meter freestyle after taking two silver medals earlier. –Japan defeated the United States 2-0 to win the gold medal in softball for the second Olympics in a row.
–The United States men’s basketball team bounced back from their loss to France by defeating Iran 120-66. They will face the Czech Republic next.
The United States leads the medal count as of this morning with 30, followed by China with 24. Japan has 20 medals and are tied with China with 11 gold medals. The United States has 10.
