The Butler Transit Authority is purchasing equipment to allow for daily temperature testing of employees.
At their regular Tuesday meeting, the authority board approved the purchase of a Pomeroy temperature check kiosk manufactured by Meridian at a cost of $2,700 along with a $300 annual subscription.
This device will be installed inside the first set of doors at the Hollywood Drive facility to daily screen bus drivers and transit authority staff in accordance with federal regulations. The kiosk will use facial recognition software and only unlock the other doors when a temperature within the acceptable range has been registered.
The kiosk is expected to be installed and operational within a month. Until then, the authority will continue to screen employees and drivers daily in person at a cost of roughly $1,200 per week.
