A Butler High School graduate is garnering national attention following a horrific tragedy.
Butler native Megan Alexander and her fiancé Brett Greenhill were preparing to start a life together in Atlanta and get married early next year. They were both in Naples, Florida earlier this month with their bridal party celebrating a joint bachelor/bachelorette party when things took a terrible turn.
They were all playing on the beach when Brett decided to go for a swim. Moments later, friends spotted his lifeless body floating in the water. Greenhill was taken to the hospital, where doctors told the couple he was paralyzed from the neck down after possibly hitting his head on a sandbar.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the couple with medical and rehab expenses. So far, they’ve raised $90,000.
Megan grew up in Butler and was a 2005 graduate of Butler High. Her friends say she still has family in the Harmony area.
