The West Cunningham Street Bridge replacement project in the city of Butler begins Monday.
Route 68 (New Castle Road) will be closed between Hansen Avenue and Main Street to facilitate the replacement in a project expected to last 100 days. The Cunningham Street Bridge carries Route 68 over Sullivan Run.
Businesses in the area will be accessible but a detour will be in place using Hansen Avenue to Pittsburgh Road to Main Street then to Jefferson Street.
The Butler Transit Authority is modifying portions of Routes 1, 4 and 5 to account for the work. Mostly, this will involve stops moving off Cunningham Street and onto New Castle Street. Visit http://butlertransit.com for more information.
PennDOT is using the same contractor who replaced the West New Castle Street Bridge last year. This is a $2 million project.
