Toys For Tots is once again underway in Butler County.
Toys will be collected and then distributed to local children whose parents are unable to buy presents for the holidays. The collection is run by the U.S. Marines and local volunteers.
Organizer Dennis Johnston says there are 300 collection boxes throughout the county where people can donate toys. All toys are accepted, especially items for infants and older children, which are sometimes forgotten about.
“Young ladies want curling irons, hair dryers, makeup,” Johnston said.
People interested in registering children to receive presents are asked to do so between now and Nov. 30. Register by calling 724-841-0431 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. (except for Election Day, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving Day). Birth certificates will be required.
To make a monetary donation, send a check to P.O. Box 413, East Butler, PA 16029.
Volunteers are also needed to help organize and distribute the toys Dec. 11-15 at the Clearview Mall. If interested, call 724-841-0431.
