Butler Township is requesting that they be allowed to administer enforcement of amplified sound.
At a meeting Monday, the township commissioners approved a resolution requesting that the PA Liquor Control Board conduct a public hearing to consider their exemption from current state regulations.
If they receive approval, the LCB will set a date and time for the hearing. This will likely take place sometime in the next 90 to 180 days.
Township police would then enforce existing ordinances regulating sound amplification for a period of a year at which time the LCB would evaluate the success of the change. If successful, the change could become permanent.
Sound amplification in the township has received attention in recent months due to the situation with a neighbor complaining about noise coming from the Rock Ann Haven restaurant and bar. Those complaints have led to fines from the LCB, who is the current enforcement agency for state set requirements.
