A Gibsonia woman died Wednesday in her apartment from a suspected heroin overdose, leaving her 3-year-old son alone until police found him.
The 34-year-old woman was found by police at the Thomas Village apartments on Community Center Drive in Richland Township, which is just south of the Butler County line in Allegheny.
Police say the woman’s mother alerted them Wednesday afternoon that something may be wrong after she was unable to contact her daughter by phone.
Authorities say the boy appeared to be well cared for.
