The Detroit Tigers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 last night at PNC Park. Three errors and nine men left on base contributed to the loss. Josh Bell hit his 20th home run of the season. He continues to lead the Major League’s in extra-base hits with 50. Jung Ho Kang and Kevin Newman added triples.
Mitch Keller started the game for the Pirates, and allowed four runs, two earned, over five innings. He struck out six. Kyle Crick took the loss in relief. He allowed an earned run in the eighth inning, when Adam Frazier failed to turn a double play.
The Bucs and Tigers complete their short two-game series tonight at 7:05pm. Trevor Williams will return from the Injured List to start for the Pirates. WISR airtime is 6:40pm.
