Brad Paisley stepped on to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry for the very first time to perform on this day (May 28th) in 1999. The then-newcomer was in awe of the history that came before him and what the Opry legends were teaching him about Country music and carrying on its tradition. “What’s important to me about it is that here you’ve got these people that have been playing music for, some of them, fifty years, right alongside people that have been playing it, in my case, for a year. The fact that they go out there every week and play for right around three hundred dollars — its the same price, if Garth plays it hes gonna get paid the same — you realize that they’re probably not necessarily doing it for the money. The reason that they are doing this is because they love to sing their songs, and that’s encouraging to me. To think that a singer would actually do this because they love to sing their songs. That’s why we all ought to do it, and thats a place where it still continues.”
Of course, today Brad is a longtime member of the Opry and continues to be a regular on that hallowed stage.
The singer is in the midst of his Crushin’ It tour. He’s also climbing the charts with his single of the same name.
